September Gifted Gorgeousness

Hello there!  Thanks for stopping by!  Today is the day we show all our gifted gorgeousness, things we've been given, or things we are giving away.  It's been a busy month here at DJ's Digs, though I don't have a lot to show for it.  Anyway, if this is the first time you've heard about Gifted Gorgeousness, you should bop over to our hostesses blog and read all about it HERE.  Jo, over at Serendipitous Stitching, can tell you much better about it, and you can sign up if you are interested, it's never too late!  OR, if you just want to see what everyone else is stitching this month, you can drop by HERE and check out the other gorgeousness going on around the web!

As I said, I really don't have much to show as far as stitching goes this time.  I have been making ornaments for a retreat I'm going to.  Pat Carson will be there, and she asks for donations every year of ornaments to give to children who have lived through a tragedy.  Could be a natural disaster, or other man made disaster...and since she is retiring after this retreat, they thought it would be grand to send her off with a LOT of stitched ornaments.  These are the last four I'll be making.  Some of the previous ornaments I have posted will be going to her as well.   Three of the patterns are from Christmas Memories by Sue Hillis Designs.  The last is a Precious Moments Christmas ornament that Pat Carson designed.

I was given a kit from a friend a few months ago.  I love it and had hoped I could finish it before Christmas, but I'm not sure I'll make it that far.  Here is Holy Nativity a Dimensions kit.  I love the little animals in the foreground.

I've been working on Winter's Majesty for a few years now.  I had it on my list to finish this year.  So many things keep getting in the way, so I doubt I'll get it finished before the end of the year...but here's where I am now.  The last time I worked on it I mainly did backstitching so it really doesn't look like much progress.  I'll show before and after pictures so you can see the difference.

I've been working on Through the Window, a SAL through Ship's Manor.  I've barely started on September, but I have done a little.  I'm hoping, now that I've finished Christmas ornaments, that I can catch up on SAL's I've been working on.

I have put together a box of goodies for my retreat exchange partner.  Because she has my blog address I'm not going to show it to you now, but next month (if I remember) I'll post a picture.

My friend who is going with me (we share the same first name so are calling ourselves the Double D's) and I have put together a basket of goodies to raffle at the retreat for a wounded warrior and his family who have gone through some rough times.  Here is a picture of the basket.  There are two stitched pillows (I made one and Ms. D made the other),  a patriotic pattern with fabric and floss to finish it, a needle nanny, scissors and fob to match, a painted wooden star, and the basket was handmade by Ms. D's husband.  We are going to put it together better soon, and make it more presentable, but I thought you might like to see what was in it.  I made the needle nanny and the scissor fob too!

That's all for the gifted gorgeousness portion!  I have been on vacation for a couple of weeks, I'll save that for another post.  We have also been having our deck repaired, so perhaps I'll show pictures of that progress too.  Sadly, Florence got in the way of finishing it up.  I'll have to show before and after pictures when all is done.  That is what has been keeping me busy!!  And now I'm off to spend the day with DH.  I REALLY have missed stitching...haha.  Hopefully I'll have more to show next time!

Happy Stitching!
