What have I been stitching?

Finally, the post I'm sure you've all been looking forward to...LOL!!  Yes, this one is totally devoted to stitching!

I didn't get much stitching done for the last few weeks.  It was just too crazy here, but I'm hoping that will all change soon, as the visitors have all left, hopefully taking all their belongings and some good memories with them.

I signed up to participate in a round robin with a few ladies from the Friendly Stitchers yahoo group.  So far I have stitched on three (if you include the one I submitted) and they have all been sent on their way to a lady in England.  Those pictures have been posted in previous posts, so I won't bother posting those pictures here.  It has been such fun, and it will be fun to see what the next project that wings it's way here will be.  Hopefully I'll have a little breather before it arrives!

I also signed up to participate in an Independence Day exchange with the Friendly Stitcher's yahoo group.  I had one already started before I was paired up with someone, but when I found out who my partner would be, I decided to stitch something else.  I was afraid she wouldn't like the first one I made, but decided to finish it as a cube and send it along to her anyway.  It was a Blue Ribbon design, but the one I thought she would really like was a Blackbird Design, it was from the stocking series they did and this one was from the month of July.  While I was stitching, and after the partners had been chosen, I realized Gillie didn't have a partner...and since she recently became an American citizen, I decided to stitch her a stocking as well.  I think she liked it as well, and since I've heard back from both of them now, I can post the pictures I took.  I can't tell you how much I enjoyed stitching these things for these wonderful ladies.  Happy 4th of July Tricia and Gillie!  *Hugs*  Just a little side note here...my Mom brought along her sewing machine for a much needed tune-up...so we used her machine to sew up the stockings to make sure everything was in proper working order.   Thanks, Mom, for all your help...I would have been a bit lost without your help!

The only other thing I've been able to stitch on is Matter's Choice from Carriage House Samplings.  I can honestly say I'm now half done!  Hopefully after a wee bit more stitching today I can say I'm 3/4 done!  After I unpacked my suitcase and got the was started, I sat down to stitch on this piece.  It's been weeks since I've been able to stitch and I've truly missed it!!  I hope to finish this up soon!!

I will be having surgery this coming week so I know things will be slowing down dramatically for me!!  I will post to let you know I'm still alive and kicking after I'm home from my short stay in hospital and recovered enough to sit at a computer.  Be patient, it may take a few days, ok?  Thanks for checking in with me, and if you are so inclined, prayers would be appreciated for my surgery.  I'll check back with you as soon as I can.  *Hugs*

Where in the world?

Call me weird, but I like to play this game on Facebook, where I post pictures and ask people to identify where in the world we are.  LOL  So...let's see if you guys can figure out where we've been over the past week...

I wonder how many of you will guess correctly?  Good luck!!

Arches...

I've been a tad busy!  My Mom was visiting for three weeks and then we took her back to NY and visited other relatives and friends along the way.  It was just what I needed after the hectic weeks we've lived through lately.  I have to thank my husband for finding the perfect way to help me relax.  He takes care of me in so many ways... Thanks Honey!!

Our last stop before we came home was in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.  We found a lovely bed and breakfast called the Hillard House, circa 1865.  Many of the light fixtures in the home were original to the home, along with the lovely parquet floors, which I forgot to take a picture of.  The food was wonderful and the owners so friendly and helpful.  I hope we get the chance to stay there again one day!!  Here are a few pictures of their lovely home.

Here is the chandelier in the dining room...

Their sitting room...

and our room, the Rose Room...

If you are in the area and hope to stay in a bed and breakfast, here is their website.  There aren't many B&B's in the area, but it's within walking distance of the River Walk and the Market Street Bridge.  We took a little time before we left to walk along the river and take some pictures..

While we were walking along the river, I started seeing a lot of arches.  I was intrigued and thought it would be fun to post a few that I noticed.  I hope they aren't too boring...I found them interesting.

We also had the opportunity to see my cousins who live in that area.  They drove down to where we were staying to have dinner with us, and then my one cousin came to have lunch the next day.  We were talking and having so much fun spending time together that our lunch stretched all day and we had dinner at the same place!  Thanks everyone for going out of your way to spend time with us, it's always nice to reconnect with family!!

There were more adventures, I'll save that for a different post, along with one about my stitching.  Thanks for checking in!

Finally..some stitching!

Hello fellow bloggers!

I've done a wee bit of stitching, but must say, my Mom is visiting and she has kept me hopping.  We've been sight seeing, going to the movies (Now you see me...I liked it very much!), going to Toby's Dinner Theater...TWICE (We saw The Wiz and Nunsense) and shopping til we dropped!  I don't know how she's done it as I'm exhausted!!  I finally threw up my hands today and told her and the boys to go on without me and I had a pajama day!  YAY!  The good news is that I got some stitching in today and I feel rested, FINALLY!!

With a little help from my Mom and her sewing machine I was able to finish up my Independence day exchange.  I can't show you pictures until they have arrived safely to Wisconsin.  I sure hope she likes what I've sent!

I stitched a wee bit on Friendship Blooms, a SAL I've been stitching on with Babs and Mouse.  I finished one of the little squares pictured here.

I also continued working on Matter's Choice, filling in more stitches on the house in the middle.

Hopefully I'll be able to show more pictures when my exchange pieces arrive this week.  Till then, have a great week and peaceful stitching!
