And Sew It Begins!

Welcome to 2011, my friends! I would like to wish all of you a Happy New Year and my prayer is that we'll all have a productive, fun-filled, and healthy year! A new year deserves a new start! So on this first day of 2011 I started the Crazy January Challenge.

My first project is "Winter Band Sampler" from Little House Needleworks. Believe it or not, after staying up a little past midnight last night, I woke up at 6 AM ready, willing and able to begin! I have to say I'm really excited about this challenge. Let's just hope my eyes and spirit can cope! My LNS was out of the recommended fabric, so I chose 32 Ct Summer Khaki and I am stitching it over one linen thread. I didn't realize how tiny it would be, but I think it's coming out quite nicely. Here is my progress so far...

I promised Rita from Texas that I would do this as a Stitch-a-long (SAL) with her and that I would start today...so there it is, Rita! Hope you were able to begin today too!

I also promised Babs I would start Heart of America on Monday and we would do that as a SAL together. I've got everything ready, Babs...are you set?

I can't decide what to start tomorrow...I'll have to see which way the wind is blowing! LOL I'm supposed to meet up with my buddy Sonya on Tuesday and I'm going to start "Mending" on that day. It will be done on 40 ct silk gauze over one (Yes, we already determined I AM CRAZY!!) and since I've never used gauze before, I'm hoping Sonya will give me some pointers. "Mending" was a birthday gift from Wendy, and has a perfect saying for all that I've been through lately so I'm excited to finally begin stitching it!

I know it's not even 8 PM here, but I'm ready to head to bed. I'm tired and my eyes need a rest so I can begin something new tomorrow. I hope I can sleep! Good night and good luck with whatever challenge you face today! *hugs*

I too hope 2011 is a healthy and happy year everyone. Especially you and yours.

Hey DJ, you did sooo much better than me, I only managed a few stitches in both Day 1 and 2, oh the joys of living in a different time zone and day.

Good morning DJ! I had to stay in this morning, but I'm feeling ok. I did get started on both my challenges...new start was Quaker Virtues and wip was Paradise Lost. I'm all set for Monday and excited cause I've wanted to do this since it came out. You got a great start by the way...32 over one is just not for me :( Now for today's projects, lol

It's gorgeous already! I got a bit done on mine yesterday and today but didn't think to stitch it over one. (Mine's over 2 on 32 ct. lambwool linen.) Wow! Can't wait to see yours finished!

Beautiful stitching and I love the colors. I wouldn't be able to do the over one part though; it is too hard on my eyes. Looking forward to seeing your progress on the challenge throughout the year. I'm doing a little different challenge for myself; to complete some UFOs that have been sitting around. Good luck!
